TAKE ME SERIOUSLY S2 E03 NOW LIVE

Wait, I Actually Have to Graduate?

Posted by on

I’ll be the first to admit that I have absolutely no idea where my degree is going to take me. The funny thing is I’ve been saying this since my second year, and I recently finished my fourth year and here I am, just as lost. When I find myself freaking out over how far behind I feel compared to others, I remind myself to slow down. Breathe. Take a moment to reflect.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to have a “next step” in life. You don’t need to plan everything. Life is stressful enough as is, and there’s absolutely no need to add more weight onto your shoulders. People find themselves at 30. You can fall in love at 40. You can find your true passion at 50. It’s almost as if we see our lives mapped out on a timeline, and we feel as though we all need to fit this cookie cutter layout of the future: you get your undergrad, then comes grad school, then you find your soulmate, then come the kids, and here you are, working every day to live. I’m not saying that this isn’t okay, all I’m saying is that it isn’t for everyone. If you know your calling, then go for it and don’t look back. Life isn’t linear, and we aren’t all the same. I have a lot of passions.

I love psychology.

Politics fascinates me.

But I also love to travel.

I like food. A lot.

Music feeds my soul.

Laughing is my favourite.

I love making other people feel good.

So do what makes you happy. Don’t stress yourself out comparing your place in life to others. Take it one step at a time. Breathe. You’re doing just fine.

And for me? I aim to live a life filled to the brim with happiness, love, and never-ending adventure. Where is that going to take me? I have no idea. But I’ll get there.

With love,
